Founder/Director - The Hague, Netherlands
Jari Mikkola began doing serious paranormal research since a very early age, long before it was considered kewl with the advent of such television programming like the Discovery Channel's, "A Haunting" or Sci-Fi Channel's, "Ghost Hunters."
Even though this type of television programming has created a myriad of groups and individuals trying to emulate the television personna, Jari felt science was ingored for fame. Thus he founded the 'In the Shadows - Paranormal Project' research and investigation group in Brighton, Colorado, and the group has hit the ground running. With Jari's direction and energy the In the Shadows Paranormal Project has already built a reputation of professionalism that has become well known in the paranormal world. As well as Around-the-World. The Denver Chapter operates not only in the Colorado Denver Metro and Front Range area, but in Tampa Bay Florida and adjoinging pan-handle communities throughout the state, and our international beginning from the Netherlands where Jari began doing serious research and formed his first team. Jari has recently taken a position with an international consulting firm in Amsterdam and has a residence in both The Hague, Netherlands, where he is currently residing, and in Denver Colorado.
As a skeptical believer of paranormal phenomenon, Jari began trying to capture evidence of the paranormal at the very early age of 12, while in a Los Angeles cemetery he saw a woman crying as she walked passed him and went into a mausoleum. When Jari followed her into the mausoleum to console her she had disappeared. After his family jeered him in disbelief with his telling of the experience, he began trying to capture proof for his family with his Kodak Browning camera (a gift from his deceased father), and became a regular visitor at the local cemetery in the late hours into the night writing down his experiences in a journal.
Over the years, Jari realized that approximately 95% of purported 'haunting's' can in fact, be explained; which is why he classifies himself as a 'skeptical' believer in the paranormal. "There has to be a lot more to it than we know, or can even fathom, and I have learned over the years that the truth is always the truth, and the truth can only be found in the evidence. Once investigated I find that most purported phenomena, can be explained as normal occurances. But, it's that five percent that can't be explained, that keeps me coming back for more, and why I do what I do."
Since the inception of In the Shadows Paranormal Project, Jari has recently been busy organizing the international association of
ParaNexus,
a global professional association of progressive paranormal investigators and researchers, parapsychologists, crypto zoologists, ufologists, psychically gifted individuals, and enthusiasts focused on understanding the human condition through the scientific study of paranormal and psychical phenomena, its reality, its reach, and its impact.
